| Catalogues and Newspaper |
| TECHPARK produce a catalogue and newspaper or price lists, normally in sufficient time for growers to place their seed orders before the sowing season commences. Catalogues are usually produced for specific consumer groups, i.e. commercial growers. Newspapers are usually produced for specific terminal farmers. TECHPARK list vegetable and flower seeds in the same catalogue for the market. Cultivars or varieties are listed for each crop and it is customary for the popular description of the cultivar to be inclued with particular reference to specific season of use, morphological type and resistance to specific pathogens. In addition to commercial role, these activities play an important part in agricultural and horticultural development. Other influences or sources of information on the use of improved seeds or new cultivars are the advisory and extension services, recommended lists and the press. |
| Demonstrations, open days and shows |
| There is probably no better way of illustrating the merits of specific seed stocks or cultivars to farmers and growers than growing them on demonstration plots under the same ecological conditions as prevail in the vegetable production. TECHPARK therefore organize demonstrations of crops grown from TECHPARK's products material. At appropriate times of the year 'farm walks', 'open days' or 'cultivar demonstrations' are organized by TECHPARK each year. These may be held in conjunction with some interested organizations such as advisory services, processing organizations or growers' co-operatives. In TECHPARK, demonstrations are organized at village level involved with population health and nutrition, aid programmes and education. |
| Public relations |
| The public relations activities of TECHPARK often include a technical advisory service, and technical representatives who, in addition to our sales activities, are also involved in offering advice and dealing with complaints. TECHPARK generally have a very good local knowledge of the industry. Reputable sections of the seed industry are often too hastily blamed for poor seedling emergence or crop stand and the diplomatic attitude of TECHPARK's technical staff can sometimes be backed by results of laboratory or growing-on tests. These has been a general increase in the amount of printed technical information available from TECHPARK especially that produced for commercial vegetable growers. The participation of TECHPARK at shows and exhibitions is also a way of displaying cultivars and merits of TECHPARK. |
